Tennis Court Slip Sheet Overlay System
Any tennis court owner—or even avid player—may know that the most common damage tennis courts sustain is cracked asphalt. Though the culprit behind this is usually constant use and not enough maintenance, external factors—like weather or unforeseen accidents—can speed up the wear-and-tear process even more.
But don’t worry! At Smooth Color, we have a way of turning your battered asphalt surfaces into brand new tennis courts!
We are one of the few companies that offer in-depth Slip Sheet Overlay Services for run-down tennis courts. Specially-constructed ply that is both strong, flexible, and long-lasting, this method promises for easy installation and long-term results.
Our Slip Sheet Overlay Process:
- Thoroughly clean out the cracks in the asphalt. Fill with oxyrene epoxy and let dry for one (1) to two (2) hours.
- Roll out slip sheets one at a time. Pour a fine layer of epoxy glue on one side of each slip sheet. This is how they’ll attach to the following sheet.
- Mix primary membrane and fine sand well. Use a squeegee to apply the mixture to each slip sheet and secure.
- To improve the strength and flexibility of the slip sheet, use a different squeegee to apply the secondary membrane over a burlap or jute mesh.
- We then combine sand and rock aggregates with an AC waterproof binder before flooding the court.
- At this stage in the process, we start court-patching any pools more than 1/3rd of an inch deep. We apply three (3) refinement coats on top of the secondary membrane—including a second jute coat.
- We then flatten the sheets down and refine the court surface by rolling it over multiple times. This ensures that everything is flat and level.
- Finally, once we’re happy with the surface and we’ve double-checked for potential flaws or inconsistencies, we apply two (2) to three (3) coats of SportMaster using another squeegee.
